Hoteliers Undergo Training For Sustainable Tourism Growth

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism and the Hotel Human Capital, on Friday, organised training for hoteliers on new skills for sustainable growth of the tourism industry in the country.

Newsmen reports that the training for middle-level managers and hospitality supervisors was organised with support from the International Hospitality Tourism and Eco-Sustainability Forum.

The theme of the workshop is “The Art of Detail: Optimising Operational Efficiency, Up-skill and Leadership Excellence.”

In a speech, the Principal Partner of Hotel Human Capital, Mr Chibuikem Diala, said the training would boost operational efficiency by equipping supervisors and managers to streamline operations, ultimately impacting the bottom line positively.

Diala also said that the workshop would strengthen leadership pipelines by developing the next generation of leaders, ensuring a sustainable future for the hospitality industry and enhancing job creation in the country.

We want to empower hospitality supervisors, often regarded as the backbone of the industry, with new skills and knowledge, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth,’’ he said.

Also speaking, the Imo Commissioner for Culture, Hospitality and Tourism, Mr Jerry Egemba, lauded the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing its alignment with the state’s vision to elevate the hospitality sector and drive economic growth.

Speaking on the theme: “The Art of Detail: Value, Ethics & The Excellent Mind of a Hospitality Leader,”

A Tourism Consultant, Mr Ikenna Emmanuel, emphasized the importance of leadership excellence and ethical practices in shaping outstanding supervisors.

Another speaker at the workshop was Dr Ebikaboere Seimodei, the General Manager of Ogeyi Place, Port Harcourt and one-time Director of Operations, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, who spoke on how to understand and optimise guest experience.

Others were Mr Ahmed Raza, the District Director, Nigeria Radisson Hotel Group, who shared insights on “Total Quality Management Optimisation”, as well as Mr Francis Olowoeye and Mr Emma Duluora.
