The House of Representatives Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, SSG, says it would work towards speedy attainment of the goals.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon Wale Raji, gave the hint at the inaugural meeting of the committee, in Abuja.
He said that SDG was a strategic committee and all about development of Nigeria.
Hon. Raji noted that no country can be said to be developed without achieving the SDG goals.
He also points out that “as at the last report, Nigeria is still far behind and all goals must be prioritized.”
The Chairman also said that the committee will use all legislative intervention to achieve the goals as well as query how much is budgeted to achieve the SDGs in the budget.
He noted that it will also sort clarifications on how states are performing in the attainment of SDGs.
Hon. Raji also assured the Committee members that the SDG committee “is a committee of equals.”
The committee is made up of forty-six members.
