House Seeks Immediate Investigation Into Killing of Citizens in Anambra

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the killing of some Plateau Citizens in Anambra state, South East Nigeria.
It also calls for investigation in the heinous crime and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and take concrete measures to prevent such senseless killings and protect the lives and properties of all citizens.

The lawmakers also urged the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Service to take urgent and decisive action to address this situation and ensure that the culprits are brought to face the full weight of the law.
The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion of Urgent Public Importance on “The Brutal Killing And Murder Of Nigerian Citizens From Kanam Local Government Area Of Plateau State In Awka, Anambra State,” moved by Mr. Yusuf Gagdi, at plenary.
While leading the debate on the motion, Mr Gagdi said that the House notes with utter dismay and deep concern, the gruesome killing of seven Nigerian citizens from Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State in Awka, Anambra State.
“Worried that the victims were neither terrorist, bandits nor criminals but peace-loving citizens of Nigeria who are free to reside and do business in any part of Nigeria,” Mr. Gagdi said.
The House observed a minute silence in honour of the departed and condemned the brutal killing of innocent Nigerians in east, particularly Awka, Anambra. State.
