House steps down Same Sex Prohibition Bill

The House of Representatives has stepped down a “Bill for an Act to Amend Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013 to Prohibit Cross Dressing; and for Related Matters (HB.193).”

The bill sponsored by Hon. Muda Lawal Umar was supposed to go through Second Reading but was stepped down due to technicalities.

The mover of the bill while leading debate on the bill said that “Same sex marriage is against Nigerian culture and tradition.

He said that House must move to stop cross dressing in Nigeria.

While ruling on the debate, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Idris Wase said the bill should have been stepped down abinitio.
