Huawei Reaffirms Committment to Promoting Green Energy in Nigeria

Huawei Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting green energy adoption in Nigeria through solar power initiatives.

This was highlighted by Huawei Nigeria Board Director, Jim Zhang, during the opening of a two-day “Green Energy and Solar Power Training” event in Abuja.

The training, jointly organised by Huawei, the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, and the Ministry of Power, aimed to equip 55 civil servants with practical knowledge on solar energy and its applications.

Zhang emphasised Huawei’s impactful presence in Nigeria for 26 years, contributing to telecommunications development with 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and digital power solutions.

He revealed that Huawei had supplied nearly 100 megawatts of power through its smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems, creating job opportunities and advancing innovation across the country.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, represented by Dr. Danjuma Kalba, commended the initiative.

She described it as environmentally beneficial and economically efficient, expressing hope that the training would be institutionalised within the civil service.

Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, represented by Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman, highlighted the importance of partnerships between government and technology providers in achieving a sustainable energy future.

He expressed optimism that the skills acquired would support Nigeria’s energy transition goals.

The program underscores Huawei’s collaboration with ministries and agencies to address power challenges and foster a sustainable, energy-efficient Nigeria.
