The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Faruk has distributed tablets and engagement letter to 186 independent monitors of the social investment programme while urging them to be patriotic in the discharge of their duties.
The Minister stated this at the flag-off of the distribution of engagement letters and tablets to the trained independent monitors of the national social investment Programe (N-SIPs) in Kaduna on Monday.
The minister who was represented by the Assistant Director In charge of the ICT Mr Aminu Tukur urged them to exhibit a high level of dedication and patriotism in the discharge of their assignment.
“We urge you to carry out the assignment with utmost sense of patriotism diligence and sincerity,
“We at the ministry will not accept any thing short of the standard.”
She said by discharging their jobs diligently, it would enable them to evaluate the success of the programmes in the state.
She then flagged off the distribution of tablets and engagement letters to the 186 monitors in the state.
The Focal person National of the Social investment programme Kaduna state, Mrs Saude Atoyebi, commended the federal government for their support.
Atoyebi charged the independent monitors to use the technology provided to them judiciously so as to enable the state rectify problem when it’s been raised.
“Take the jobs seriously and also put in accurate information that will be of benefit to the poor which the programme is intended to reach out to.”
According to her, the state takes social protection program very seriously and has put in place measures to strengthen the programme in the state.
She said that the state government recently launched a social protection policy which provided a framework for the coordination of social protection intervention in the State.
She said the state government was also working towards the enactment of the Kaduna state Social protection law to provide the legal framework for social protection activities.
According to her, the N-SIPS has supported more than 850,000 thousand beneficiaries in Kaduna state.
“Under the conditional cash transfer programme, about 96 and above beneficiaries from nine local government areas of the state have received fourteen successful payments from December 2017 to June 2020,” she stated.
She said another 38,223 household have been approved for inclusion in the programme.
Among those who benefited from the first and second batches of N-Power are majorly undergraduate youths, giving assurance that they are working on the third batch.
While noting that 3,262 schools are benefiting from the national homegrown school feeding programme and 7,261 cooks have been recruited, as a total of 700,35,000 school pupils are enjoying the school program.
“The state has been providing support to ensure smooth running of the programme and recently conducted a localised menu been designed for the cooks for the state wide food verification exercise,” she said.
According to her, accountability mechanism was put in place by the state government where mother’s can monitor the school feeding programme to compliment already existing structures like the school base management committee.
“We have been able to grow our social register significantly with a total of 500,6400,420 poor and vulnerable household and over two million Individuals are already captured.”
A beneficiary, Ahmed Ishaku promised to discharge his duty judiciously so as to ensure that those who are ment to benefits from the programme benefit from it.
