Ibadan Explosion: Kwara Governor backs probe

The Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum NGF, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq  has supported the  calls for objective probe into the tragic explosion in parts of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, South Western Region of Nigeria on Tuesday.
According to him, such probe would  unravel what truly happened to forestall a repeat of such traumatic incident.

The Governor in a statement  by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye said the state government stands by the Government and people of Oyo State as they recover from the shock of the sad incident.

“On behalf of the people of Kwara State, I send our heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Oyo State on the tragic explosion in parts of Ibadan late Tuesday” the statement added.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the good people and Government of Oyo State at this trying time. I commend my brother Governor, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, and his team for the swift responses since the incident occurred.”

According to the Governor, the incident again underlines the need for operators to adopt global best practices in mining operations and to prioritise safety at all times.

He prayed Almighty God to forgive the dead and wish speedy recoveries for those injured in the explosion.
