Ibadan set to host 3rd Annual Cycling Competition

Ibadan is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Cycling Competition, set for Saturday, November 2, 2024, with organizers ready to welcome over 150 cyclists from across Nigeria.

The event offers a range of categories for cyclists of different ages and skill levels, including Toddlers (0-4 years) racing 2 km, Kids (5-9 years) covering 4 km, Pre-Teens (10-14 years) tackling 6 km, Youths (15-18 years) competing over 10 km, and a special 2 km category for Parents, Coaches, and Stakeholders.

Security and traffic control will be managed by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the Police, and other agencies to ensure smooth passage for cyclists along the Airport Road, Alakia route in Ibadan. A medical team will also be on standby to handle any potential emergencies, while participants will enjoy a scenic yet challenging course.

Mr. Adebayo Olawale Samson, the Convener, stated, “The purpose of this event is to nurture and showcase the talents of young cyclists from rural areas, providing them with an opportunity to reach their full potential.”

He added that the initiative reflects the commitment of Lapet Feats International and the Oyo State Cycling Association to developing cycling talent in Nigeria from the grassroots.

Organizers announced exciting prizes for winners and runners-up, including medals, textbooks, notebooks, and other school supplies. Additionally, all participants will receive certificates of participation, serving as recognition of their achievements.
