The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has inaugurated over 300 modern residential units and an administrative complex for police personnel in Kano State, as part of efforts to improve officer welfare and enhance operational efficiency.

The new development, commissioned on Wednesday, comprises a 48-office administrative block, a standard armoury, transport and power workshops, worship centres, paved roads, and integrated support systems.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the IGP stressed that improved welfare is essential to effective policing across the country.

“The morale, welfare, and living conditions of those who serve are the foundation of any security architecture

“For too long, that foundation has been uneven. Today, here in Kano, we lay a new kind of cornerstone.”

Egbetokun noted that the initiative is part of a broader nationwide blueprint aimed at transforming the Nigeria Police Force through infrastructure, institutional development, and strategic reforms.

“We are not just building houses; we are building a world that prioritises the person behind the badge,” he added.

The Inspector-General expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support for the police and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to the President’s security agenda.

Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, welcomed the IGP and described the facility as a significant morale booster for officers and their families.

“The facility at Bompai and Zaria Road Police Barracks consists of two blocks of residential apartments, a block of offices, state armoury, state workshop, and a network with branches, and an exhibition store

“These structures will boost morale, productivity, and the overall effectiveness of our personnel.” He said.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Affairs, AVM Ibrahim Umar (rtd), commended the Nigerian Police Force for the milestone and applauded ongoing synergy with other security agencies in the state.

He reiterated the commitment of the state government to supporting all security agencies for the enhancement of peace and stability.

“The state government remains committed to providing continuous support to security agencies with a view to enhance security in the state,” he stated.
