The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has commended the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for launching a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships to children of fallen heroes.
The IGP gave the commendation when he received the DEPOWA delegation on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, who led the team under the theme “Thank You to Our Troops”, explained that the scholarship programme would commence with the commissioning of the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy, scheduled for September 2026.

“The scholarship will benefit children of our fallen heroes while also bolstering national cohesion by admitting children from surrounding communities,” Mrs. Musa stated.
She also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and hailed the sacrifices of police officers in combating violent crimes and contributing to international peacekeeping.
In his response, IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to its constitutional responsibilities.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in protecting life and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy. We draw strength from the support of stakeholders such as DEPOWA and other affiliate associations,” the IGP said.
