IGP Urges Newly Promoted Officers To Embrace Strategic Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun has urged newly promoted senior officers to adopt a strategic and progressive approach to policing while supporting ongoing reforms to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Force.

Speaking during the decoration ceremony in Abuja, the IGP emphasised the need for professionalism, dedication, and commitment to national security, encouraging the officers to justify their new ranks with exemplary leadership.

A total of 20 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were promoted to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), while 19 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of CP.

Dignitaries at the event included former Senate President David Mark; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan; former Ekiti State Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo; and former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke.

Also in attendance were members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior police officers, families of the promoted officers, and other distinguished guests.
