Ikorodu City FC defeated Rivers United 1-0 in their Match Day 30 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match, courtesy of a strike by Temitope Folarin, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos State.

Ikorodu City started brightly and pushed forward in search of an early goal, but Rivers United’s disciplined defence kept the hosts at bay throughout the opening half.

With the first half ending goalless, coach Bright Ozadegbe introduced Folarin after the break, replacing academy player Dennis Mse in the 46th minute.

The substitution proved decisive as Folarin struck in the 52nd minute, capitalising on a loose ball after goalkeeper’s save from Salami Farouk’s goal-bound effort.

League leaders Rivers United looked for a way back into match, but could not break down the resilient defence of Ikorodu City.

The victory boosted Ikorodu City’s hopes of securing a continental ticket.
