iLEAD AFRICA Reiterates Commitment To Empower Youth In decision-making

iLEAD AFRICA has reiterated its commitment to empower the youth, by fostering their engagement in political activities, and active participation in decision-making processes in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive, of iLEAD AFRICA and Founder of Youth Elect Initiative, Mr. Yusuff Liadi Abiodun stated this at the Youth Agenda Summit 2.0, saying the youth’s perspective is essential for the growth and nation’s development

Mr Abiodun acknowledged the pivotal role youth play in shaping the future of the nation.

He said; “In our journey to empower the youth, we’ve witnessed the remarkable dedication and passion of our young leaders. They have consistently demonstrated their commitment to building a society where every voice matters, and every opinion counts. Through various initiatives and programs, iLEAD AFRICA stands as a testament to the potential that resides within our youth.”

Mr. Abiodun explained that the Summit served as a platform that creates opportunities for collaboration, and chats the way forward on critical issues to achieve a positive change.

“Today, we gather to echo the spirit of activism, advocating for a better Nigeria. We aspire to build a nation where the youth are not just heard but are actively involved in shaping policies and decisions that affect us all. Together, let us engage in fruitful discussions, share insights, and foster a sense of unity. Let us collectively work towards building the Nigeria we envision—a Nigeria where hope is renewed, unity is paramount, and prosperity is attainable,” he explained.

Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim said the new government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is carrying the youth along in its scheme of affairs by putting them at the forefront of policy implementation.

Dr Ibrahim said; “By amplifying these voices, As a Ministry, we create a space for meaningful dialogue and co-creation of policies that truly resonate with the aspirations of our young population. Our commitment to fostering inclusive governance is embodied in our resolve to actively engage a diverse spectrum of young individuals in the revision of our national youth policy.”

She stated that the heart of transformative change lies in collaboration, networking, and forging partnerships among youth participants.

“These partnerships signify a collective force—a shared commitment to creating a positive impact that transcends individual endeavors.
In addressing the pressing issue of youth irregular migration, we confront a complex challenge that demands our attention and innovative solutions. Through candid discussions and shared insights, we aspire to uncover the root causes of this issue and, together, develop sustainable pathways toward a more secure and promising future for our youth,”Dr. Ibrahim added.

On his part the Project Lead of Nigeria Youth Future Fund, Mr. Ikenna Ogbudimkpa, said his organisation provides funds for capacity building.

Ogbudimkpa said; “Our focus is on youth employment, we use several projects to drive inclusive resources so that young people across the country can have access to resources to drive change projects. We democratise funding, capacity building, and youth involvement in governance so that young people across the country will have resources and capacity to drive change and shape the Nigeria that we want.”

The Youth Summit with the theme “Actioning The Nigeria We Want,” is aimed at bridging the gap between aspiring young leaders and their representatives, empowering them to become active citizens and take action towards a better Nigeria.

The programme was put together by iLEAD AFRICA, Leap Africa, YOUTH-ELECT, and partners.
