The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has presented a 1.4 trillion naira budget proposal to the State House of Assembly for the 2026 fiscal year, representing a 78 percent increase over the 807 billion naira budget for 2025.
The Governor tagged the proposal “The Budget of Economic Breakthrough.”
Under the proposal, 83.4 percent is allocated to capital expenditure, while 16.6 percent is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
Governor Uzodimma said the budget is anchored on expectations of improved federal allocation and increased internally generated revenue (IGR), as well as the determination of his administration to end what he described as a “Generator Based Power Economy” and deliver world class infrastructure capable of stimulating economic growth.
Sectoral allocations in the budget proposal include 20.506 billion naira for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, 698.163 billion naira for the Ministry of Health, 87.727 billion naira for the Ministry of Health, 6.471 billion naira for the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition, 60.623 billion naira for the Ministry of Education, and 15.106 billion naira for the Ministry of Rural Development.
Among other critical sectors, the Ministry of Power and Electricity received an allocation of 190.451 billion naira.
Members of the trade, industry, and investor community were present at the budget presentation.
