Imo Governor’s Second Term Inauguration Arrangements in Top Gear
The Imo Government says that arrangements for the inauguration of governor Hope Uzodimma for a second term in office have reached advanced stage.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Declan Emelumba, said this at a news briefing in Owerri on Thursday.
Emelumba thanked Imo people for coming out in their numbers to vote in the governor for a second term.
According to him, this is the first time in the history of the state that a sitting governor would win all the 27 Local Government Areas in a landslide.
Cheer the governor
He called on Imo residents and friends of the state to come out on Monday to cheer the governor during the ceremony.
He assured them of accelerated development in the governor’s second term, in line with his campaign promises.
The commissioner said that there would be adequate security and other arrangements for Imo residents, who would be attending the ceremony from the rural areas threatened by insecurity in the past.
“In his new year address, the governor made it clear that Imo people should expect action and prosperity as the defining drive of his second tenure, so Imo people should expect that better days are ahead.
“I want to assure you that every necessary arrangement for a successful swearing in ceremony has been put in place as important dignitaries from all over the country and beyond are expected to grace the occasion.
“The governor has emphasised that his second term swearing in ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate Imo people who voted massively for him so the celebration of Imo people is at the centre of this historic event,“ Emelumba said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Uzodinma of APC the winner of the November 11 off-circle Governorship Election in Imo and returned him for a second term.
