Imo guber: LP Candidate promises to enhance ease of doing business
The Labour Party candidate in the November 11 governorship election in Imo, Senator Athan Achonu has said that he will work to enhance the ease of doing business in the State, if elected.
Achonu made the promise at a convention organised by the Imo Congress of America in Houston, Texas.
He also pledged to execute developmental projects and establish industrial clusters as a way of catalysing industrialisation and economic development of the state.
“We will build two industrial layouts in each of the senatorial districts to help attract investments, inspire a vibrant manufacturing sector, foster creativity and provide the much needed employment for citizens.
“This we will do through healthy partnerships with the organised private sector to build pharmaceutical, agro-processing and light industrial parks to serve the state,” he said.
Achonu also promised that the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport would be upgraded to make it attractive to investors adding that the airport would be made an outstanding hub for the southeast and beyond, through robust partnerships with international logistics companies.
Tackling Insecurity
He said that to tackle insecurity, he would conduct local government elections in order to make council and ward chairmen custodians of security in their respective areas.
“I am confident that when elected, we will ensure that all Imo people can safely return to their communities,” he said.
He assured delegates to the convention of his readiness to ensure that votes would be protected and made to count during the poll.
He urged them to join forces with him to ‘Take-Back-Imo’ and place the state on the path of growth and sustainable development.
