Eid-Al-Adha: BUA Cement Distributes Cows, Rice To Sokoto State Host Communities

BUA Cement company has distributed 12 cows and 200 bags of rice worth N70 million to 1,700 households for Eid-Al-Kabir celebrations in five host communities in Sokoto state.

The BUA Managing Director, Mr Yusuf Binji, led the distribution of the items to traditional rulers from the communities in Wamakko local government areas in the state.

Mr Binji, who was represented by Assistant Director, Administration and Corporate Affairs, Mr Sada Suleiman, said the effort was part of the company’s programme under Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to host communities.

He said the gesture was intended for less privileged persons to celebrate the festivities alongside others adding that monitoring teams were constituted to oversee the distribution exercise.

In his remarks, the Principal Social Performance Officer, Mr Rabi’u Maska, said less privileged households were targeted to support their lives being part of the company’s business premises in order to enhance mutual respects and relationships.

Mr Maska said five benefiting communities were Wamakko, Gumbi, Arkilla, Kalambaina and Wajekke noting that when the targeted households were multiplied no fewer than 3,000 persons would benefit from the gesture.

He said the company plans to expand the gesture in the coming years and reiterated the company’s determination to enhance people’s well-being especially host communities which would surely translate to greater performance.

He explained that the company ensured annual distribution of bags of cements for the repair of public places across the communities beside other CRS projects.

He listed the projects to include; healthcare support to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), Students scholarship scheme, Vocational training programme and education infrastructural development supports.

Others include establishment of a technical college, electricity installations support, provision of potable water and construction of numerous road projects across the communities.

Responding on behalf of benefiting communities, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Corporate Services, Alhaji Usman Arzika, expressed appreciation over the gesture which would surely enhance peoples lives.

The event was attended by Chairman of Wamakko local government area, Alhaji Umar Dundaye and traditional rulers that included Sarkin Rafin Gumbi, Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulkadir- Mujeli; Ardon Wajeke, Alhaji Mailato Gumbi; and Ubandoman Arkilla, Alhaji Aliyu Hassan-Liman.
