Mokwa Flood: President Tinubu Approves N2 Billion Relief Fund

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the release of N2 billion as aid for the reconstruction of houses destroyed by flood in Mokwa, Niger State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed this on Wednesday, while on a visit to Niger State for an on the spot assessment of areas affected by the devastating flood that rocked Mokwa and some parts of the State.

 

VP Shettima also disclosed that the President has further directed the immediate release of 20 trucks of rice for distribution to survivors of the flood.

The Vice President assured the people of Niger State that the President stands with them in this trying period and would always look into issues affecting them and their livelihoods, to find lasting solution.

 

“President Tinubu has also directed the immediate repair of all bridges affected by the flood as well as the rehabilitation of all drainages and waterways in Mokwa,” he added.

The natural disaster occurred in Mokwa and some parts of Niger State last week, leaving many dead and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris had at the weekend paid a similar visit to Mokwa and other affected parts of the State, to commiserate with the government and people of the State.
