India Extends Sugar Exports Ban
India has extended the ban on sugar exports by one year till October-end next year.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry who confirmed the extension said that a notification in this regard was issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade DGFT.
“The Central government hereby extends the date of restriction on the export of sugar, including raw sugar, refined sugar, and white sugar, beyond October 31 till October 31, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” they said.
It further added that this restriction is not applicable to sugar being exported to the European Union and the United States.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the government earlier this month, India is among the top sugar producers and exporters worldwide.
