Indonesia has introduced the Cek Kesehatan Gratis (CKG) program, offering free medical check-ups to its entire population of 280 million citizens in a groundbreaking move.
The initiative aims to promote preventive healthcare, eliminating barriers to access healthcare services.
The program provides comprehensive medical check-ups, including: Blood pressure measurement, body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, cholesterol level check, blood sugar level (glucose) test, height and weight measurement, eye, mouth, and tooth examination.
Citizens can access the program through the Satu Sehat mobile app or by visiting the nearest government health clinic.
The program is open to everyone, from healthcare workers to farmers, fishermen, and laborers.
The CKG program marks a significant shift in Indonesia’s healthcare approach, prioritizing preventive care over expensive treatments.
By detecting health issues early, the program aims to promote positive and healthier behavior, reducing household costs for treating sick family members.
The initiative has earned global recognition, with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus applauding Indonesia’s commitment to preventive healthcare .
