The Gombe State Government has begun the payment of compensation to individuals whose lands have been affected from the establishment of the Gombe Industrial Park.

700 persons from adjoining villages in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area are being compensated by the State Government’s efforts at ensuring that no land owner is short-changed.

The Chairman of the Compensation Committee and Commissioner of Finance, Malam Muhammad Gambo Magaji, said the compensation was only paid to individuals for their support and willingness to hand over their pieces of land for the development of the Industrial Park and the overall development of the State.

Malam Magaji said about one thousand hectares of land was being compensated with funds running into hundreds of millions.

“Actually the payment is going to be based on the size of individual land, this is Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s way of ensuring equity and Justice,” Malam Magaji said.

He commended the people of Yamaltu for their support and solidarity since the idea of establishing the Gombe Industrial Park was conceived by the of Governor Yahaya’s administration.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu, said the  idea of setting up the Gombe industrial Park in Yamaltu-Deba was consequent upon the availability of power, through the Dadin kowa hydropower plant, which is the main driver of industrial revolution.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Abubakar Diffa said Governor Yahaya had displayed a rare leadership quality which will linger on in their minds forever.
