The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi State has assured that all eligible voters will be captured in the ongoing second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which began on January 5, 2026.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Abubakar Dambo, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the INEC office in Birnin Kebbi.

Dambo said the registration exercise is currently taking place at INEC local government area (LGA) offices and the state headquarters.

He explained that the exercise would be expanded to all Registration Area Centres and wards across the LGAs from February 2 to April 10, 2026. According to him, registration would then return to LGA offices and the state headquarters during the final phase, from April 13 to April 17, 2026.

The REC noted that registration would be conducted on working days between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.

He said the exercise is open to new registrants, including Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 or those who are eligible but have not registered previously.

Dambo added that registered voters who experienced accreditation challenges during the last election are expected to update their photographs and fingerprints.

He said the exercise also covers voters who want to reprint lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), transfer their registration to another location, or update or correct personal details such as name, address, or gender.

According to the REC, most of these services can be completed online through the INEC registration portal, except for new registrations and cases involving failed accreditation during previous elections.

He said affected persons must visit their preferred LGA office or the INEC state headquarters to complete the process.

Dambo described voter registration as a civic responsibility of all eligible Nigerian citizens, stressing that possessing a PVC enables participation in electoral activities, including voting and contesting for elective offices.

The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by representatives of political parties, security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), non-governmental organisations, and members of the media.
