INEC Conducts Yobe East Senatorial Bye-Election

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, held the Yobe East Senatorial bye-election in Gulani, Gujiba, Bursari,Tarmuwa, Gaidam, Yunusari and Damaturu local government areas. 

The Governor of Yobe State,, Mai Mala Buni was at his polling unit at around 10:00 am local time, to exercise his franchise.

The governor voted at the Bulturi 004 polling unit in Gujiba LGA.

Immediately after casting his vote, Governor  Buni expressed his delight over the turnout of voters.

He says he is overwhelmed by the level of INEC preparedness and also acknowledged the huge turnout of voters, saying “Gujiba was one of the community that was resettled after its displacement by the insurgency, I’m happy the level of peace and tranquility the people are enjoying and i expect this election to be hitch free and successful”

Our correspondent observed the unfolding events as elections unfolded across multiple polling units in Damaturu, the state capital, encompassing the 7 local government areas of the Yobe East Senatorial by-election.

Specifically, at Motor Pack Gate 10 polling unit, Water Board Gate 0013, and Hayas Cinema II 006 polling units, the electoral officials commenced their duties promptly, arriving at the polling units by 6:30 am local time.

Notably, the atmosphere at these locations remained tranquil and composed, with voters actively participating in the electoral process, casting their votes amid a serene setting.
