INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials in Nasarawa State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Nasarawa state has distributed sensitive materials across the thirteen Local government areas of the state.

The materials were distributed in the presence of officials of political parties and their candidates participating in the elections as well as security personnel and INEC officials.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Dr Uthman Ajidagba, said all the sensitive materials are here and being distributed.

We have sufficient sensitive materials such as BVAS, which have been configured according to the polling units, as well as customized result sheets,” he said.

Similarly, the REC assured accredited domestic observers of the commission’s readiness to conduct the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Election.

The Resident Commissioner made the commitment at a meeting with observers and political parties ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

He explained that the commission was 100 per cent ready administratively to conduct the election across over 3, 245 polling units in the state.

“The headquarters of INEC had already sent all the materials needed for the conduct of the election to us in the state.

“We are not lacking any material as they were already supplied to us and we will distribute them to headquarters of Local Government Areas today,” he said.

The INEC Resident Commissioner in the state also reassured that the election would hold as scheduled.

He also said that INEC would deliver a credible, free, fair, and transparent election that would reflect the choice of the majority of the people that voted in the election.

Speaking, State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Maiyaki Muhammad-Baba, said their men as well as sister security agencies were fully ready to ensure that the election was held in all parts of the state.

The CP added that the police had deployed personnel to all the 3,245 Polling units in the state to ensure that the exercise took place rancor-free.

“The police had deployed 4, 202 personnel to man INEC offices, collection centers, and polling units against those who want to cause problems”.

He, therefore, warned hoodlums planning to disrupt the election to steer clear or if caught would face the wrath of the law.
