Ebonyi 2023: INEC Releases Final List For Governorship Candidates, Others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State Southeast has released the authentic list of Governorship Candidates of various political parties that will stand for the General Election in 2023.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Chukwu made this statement in Abakaliki the State capital.

Dr. Chukwuemeka said 13 political parties are fielding candidates for Governorship for the forthcoming General Election.

Their names and Political parties are “Nwandugo Chukwuma- (AA), Nwonumara Bernard- (ADC), Oziomaeze Keneth- (ADP), Nwifuru Francis Ogbonna-(APC), Odoh Bernard- (APGA), and Igwe Chinenye- (APM)”

“Others are Okpara Apollos- (APP), Nkwegu Edward- (LP), Adol-Awam Sunday- (NNPP), Usulor Anthony- (NRM), Chukwuma Odii- (PDP),  Nwankwo Micheal- (SDP) and Opoke Sunday Andrew- (YPP)”

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC, Dr. Chukwuemeka further informed that Ebonyi State has 13 governorship candidates and 246 candidates for the State House of Assembly.

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commission, INEC, Ebonyi State Dr. Chukwuemeka Chukwu, called on the security Chief in the State to be strictly guided by the provision of the 2022 Electoral Act and other extant laws in respect of political campaigns.

Free and fair

He solicits for their cooperation and effectiveness in achieving violence-free political campaigns, rallies, processions, and meetings in the State.

On his part, the Commissioner of Police in the state and Chairman of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security ICCES Ebonyi State, CP Garba Aliyu, assured the REC that the security agencies will do their best to secure life and property and also ensure that the 2023 election is fair, free.

“INEC and Security agencies are ready to articulate this together to achieve success in the 2023 election. 

“We assure you that the security agencies will do the best they can to the best of their ability and responsibility to ensure they as security agencies secure life and property”. Aliyu added.
