Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has called on the newly elected officials of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to key into the 8-point agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a joint effort to improve the image of Africa’s most populous country.

Idris made the call when the members of the NIPR Board paid him a  courtesy visit in Radio House, Abuja.

The Minister, who is also a fellow of the Institute, assured the board of his support, saying “the ministry is ready to partner with all well-meaning institutions and stakeholders in repositioning the country and reorienting Nigerians.”

The ministry will engage the NIPR in this regard,” he said.

Idris expressed support for the board’s plan to promote sectoral specialization amongst members as a way to enhance professionalism and build a robust institution.

In his words; “the NIPR has been operating as a unifocal profession, and I think that has created a problem; we need to decentralize our profession.”

The President and Chairman of the governing council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku said the council members came on a courtesy visit to inform the Minister of its planned programmes and activities as well as to express their readiness to collaborate with the ministry in the task of nation building.

The NIPR, he said, is proposing to run a national campaign for the rebirth of Nigeria, which would focus on three key areas: citizen education and value reorientation; a return to made-in-Nigeria goods; and service delivery excellence.

Dr Neliaku added that they would work with the Ministry in implementing this campaign.
