Information Minister Commends Civil Defence For Enhancing National Security

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris has commended the National Security and Defence Corps, NSDC, commandant for fostering collaboration in training opportunities with other security agencies in Nigeria.
Idris gave the commendation during the graduation ceremony of 238 Personnel from the National Schools’ Response Coordination Course at the Defense Intelligence College in Abuja.
The four-day programme aimed at enhancing the capacity of the NSDC personnel in effectively combating internal crime within communities across the country.
The Minister was represented at the event by the Director General of Voice of Nigeria VON, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace,
Mallam Ndace urged security agencies to leverage Voice of Nigeria’s multimedia platforms for promoting safety tips, aligning with the Information Minister’s commitment to open public media outlets for broader usage.
This move, he emphasized, contributes to realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also praised the National Security and Defence Corps for their efforts in tackling the rising insecurity across Nigerian communities.
The initiative is part of the Nigerian Government’s Safe Schools Project, which seeks to address and prevent attacks and violence in schools and host communities.
Capacity training
The Minister emphasised the need for increased advocacy and capacity training for security organisations, calling for the adoption of non-kinetic measures through collaborations with community associations and other pressure groups.
Tunji-Ojo reassured the NSDC of the government’s commitment to provide necessary support to security agencies in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of children nationwide.
Calling for a dissemination of acquired skills and experiences, the Minister encouraged participants to apply their training in schools and communities for a more significant impact.
Other notable Speakers at the event included Maj Gen EAP Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, and Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of NSCDC.
They called for stakeholders’ support in ensuring the safety of schools and host communities across the nation.
The collective efforts and synergy of security agencies were underscored as crucial elements in achieving this goal.
