Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Tuesday inaugurated the new governing council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), urging them to promote professionalism and excellence within the institute.

The council, which was elected in August last year, comprises of 17 elected members and 5 government appointees, totaling 22.
Council Members
The newly inaugurated council is led by Dr. Ike Neliaku, a fellow of the NIPR, the President and Chairman of the council from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He is joined by Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, also a fellow of the NIPR, the Vice President and Vice Chairman of the council (Nasarawa state)
Voice of Nigeria’s Director General, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace (Niger state) is also a member of the council, others are: Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule (Kano state ), Mrs Olubunmi Adedoyin Badejo (FCT), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha (Anambra state), Prince Ford ObiOzumba (Imo state), Dr. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi (Kwara state), Brig. Gen. S.K. Usman (Retired) – FCT, Hajiya Maryam Mohammed Sanusi (FCT). Mrs Thelma Chika Okoh (Lagos state), Comrade Ini Ememobong Essien (Akwa Ibom state}, Mallam Kabir Ali Kobi (Bauchi state), Pastor Paulinus Enyindah Nsirim (Rivers state), Prof. Sarah Benjamin Lwahas (Plateau state), Mr. Adaramola Temitope (Ogun state), Dr. Adewale Oladipo Oyekanmi (Osun state), Mr. Bajulaiye Olanrewaju Adetokunbo (Lagos state), Mrs. Omolara Ebunoluwa Esan (FCT) and Lanre Issa-Onilu (Lagos state).
They are expected to oversee the affairs of the NIPR, the umbrella body of public relations practitioners in Nigeria, for the next three years.

The NIPR, established in 1963, is a statutory body that regulates the practice and standards of public relations in Nigeria. It also provides training and certification for its members and organizes events and activities to promote the profession.
