Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, has called for unity among Nigeria’s geo-political zones to unlock the country’s potential as part of efforts to achieve the dividends of democracy.

The Minister made the call when the APC North-Central Zone paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja.

With six states – Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau – as well as the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, making up Nigeria’s North Central Zone, the zone is one of the country’s socio-culturally diverse regions.

Despite the diversity, the Minister noted that the geo-political zone possesses traits that can be galvanised in the drive to build a united and prosperous Nigeria.

“We have common characteristics, the Minister noted during the meeting, which included party leaders and stalwarts of the All Progressive Party across the states of Nigeria’s North Central Zone and the FCT.

That characteristic is that of humility, that of hard work, and that of patriotism. Let us try to deepen that and galvanize our people towards a common understanding and a shared vision for what our country should be. So that collectively, and in partnership with other zones of this country, Nigeria will be a different place.”

At the meeting, the National Vice Chairman of the APC North Central, Bawa Rijau, on behalf of the National Working Committee of the APC, and Zonal Executives, congratulated the Minister on his well-deserved appointment as Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation.

The delegation assured the Minister of their support and called on him to work with his colleagues in the cabinet to fast-track development in the zone.

He said the North Central zone did well in the last election, and it is expected that the politicians and cabinet colleagues work together to ensure that the interests of the North Central are protected.
