Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups to intensify their role as advocates of government reforms, saying that the success of ongoing policies depends on sustained public engagement and truthful communication with Nigerians.
The Information Minister, made this known at a dinner with the All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups in Abuja, Nigeria.
Idris, while commending the party loyalists for steadfast support, loyalty, and belief in the vision of the All Progressives Congress, stressed that a shared commitment to progressive leadership and the continued advancement of the nation is critical.

He noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the government had taken decisive steps to stabilise the economy, restore fiscal discipline, and reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.
“From far-reaching economic reforms to renewed efforts at strengthening national security and infrastructure development, the Tinubu administration is laying solid foundations for long-term prosperity. Early signs of progress are already evident. We are witnessing positive indicators improved investor confidence, increased oil production, enhanced revenue generation, and strategic interventions to support states, businesses, and vulnerable Nigerians.”
Idris also highlighted what he called a renewed focus on transparency and citizen engagement, stressing that reforms must go hand in hand with open communication.
“This government understands that reforms must be accompanied by honest dialogue, public enlightenment, and a shared sense of national purpose,” he said.
The Minister drew attention to President Tinubu’s presentation of the 2026 budget proposal to the National Assembly, putting the total estimates at N58.18 trillion.
According to him, Defence and Security, Infrastructure, Education, and Health would take the largest share of the budget. He quoted the President by saying the four sectors were inseparable priorities.
“Without security, investment will not thrive. Without educated and healthy citizens, productivity will not rise. Without infrastructure, jobs and enterprises will not scale. This Budget is, therefore, designed to provide a single, coherent programme of national renewal.
“National security would remain at the centre of government policy in 2026, with priority given to the modernisation of the armed forces, intelligence-driven policing, joint security operations, strengthened border control, technology-enabled surveillance, and community-based peacebuilding and conflict prevention”, he said.

The Minister, described the role of APC support groups as the backbone of the nations political movement, which goes beyond their responsibilities, go beyond electioneering.
“You are defenders of truth, champions of our achievements, and partners in correcting misinformation. At a time when reforms can be misunderstood or deliberately misrepresented, your role in explaining the gains of this administration to Nigerians is more critical than ever.”
He urged the party leaders to rally behind the 2026 budget, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity’, and to help communicate its objectives at the grassroots. He assured party stakeholders that their sacrifices and loyalty would not go unnoticed.
“As the Minister of Information and National Orientation, I recognise the critical role you play as ambassadors of our party mobilising, informing, and strengthening public confidence in our policies and programmes. This dinner is therefore both a celebration and a call to duty. A call to close ranks, strengthen our structures, and deepen our engagement with communities across the country. As a government and as a party, we remain committed to rewarding hard work, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that no stakeholder is left behind in our collective journey,” he said.

All attendees were urged to remain focused, united, and resolute as they work with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more secure Nigeria.
The event was attended by the Minister of State, Regional Development, Uba Maigari, the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndace, the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Dembos; Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama; and the leaders of several APC Support Groups.
