Insecurity: Niger State to engage religious, traditional leaders

Niger State Government in North-Central Nigeria has planned to engage traditional and Religious leaders in collaboration with security agencies to put an end to the unacceptable wanton carnage and other security challenges in the State.

The Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, stated this during the Ed-al-Fitr message to the Muslim Umma across the State.

Matane said the collaboration with the stakeholders will go a long way in assisting the security agencies with suspicious report  of persons or groups terrorising the State.

He further reassured the people of the State of the State government’s readiness to step up efforts towards curbing armed banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the State.

He explained that the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is not resting on its oars towards bringing lasting solutions to the insecurity bedevilling the State.

 “Effective protection of lives and property of all citizens at all times is the fundamental constitutional responsibility of any meaningful Government; therefore the present administration attaches tremendous importance to the security of lives and property of the citizens, hence the need for peaceful co-existence among the citizenry”, he said.

Matane reminded Muslims that the Ramadan fast is an opportunity for them to deepen their relationship with God, promote the life of sacrifice and love for one another irrespective of religious, political, or social affiliations.

He wished the people of the State happy and hitch-free Eid-al-Fitr celebrations and appealed for citizens to pray fervently so that the State can get out of the present security situation.
