Insecurity: Nigerian police calls for synergy across security outfits

Nigeria police has urged for encouragement and promotion of proper synergy with other security agencies and local vigilante groups across the country in efforts to curtail spread the ongoing insecurity active in the country.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 of the Nigerian police, Bala Ciroma, stated this during a visit to Niger state command on Wednesday.
AIG Bala Ciroma stated that proper synergy across security agencies is of Paramount importance in achieving a desired aim.
“We’ve found ourselves in such a time that synergy must be of Paramount importance no agency can do it alone, so we must all put our hands together and put our various specialization on board to ensure that we free communities from criminal activities”.
The AIG who enjoined police commands in his zone on cordial civil relationship as part of community policing, pointed out that the “police can’t be everywhere at a time, the civil society must be on board on our security architecture , they are very significance , and supposed to be our ear and eyes to really get our job done well“, added AIG Ciroma
AIG Ciroma, who further urged the police in his zone and the country at large to always make use of critical stakeholders in the communities like the vigilantes and opinion leaders in ensuring quality service delivery ,advised the police to start thinking of re-jigging their strategy of being always proactive in their operations.
“For instance the total land mass of Niger state as the largest in the country, is very insignificant to our operations, we can’t be everywhere, and at the same time must find a solution to our challenges by liaising and bringing on board members of the public to serve as our ear and eyes to achieved an efficient quality delivery to the society”.
” Any DPO who thinks he can do it alone is wrong, you should start thinking towards involving members of the vigilante and other critical holders in the society for quality service delivery”.
AIG Zone 7 of the Nigerian Police who commended officers and rank/file in the zone for efficiency and recording success in fighting insurgencies, kidnapping and other sort of crimes,however stated the Nigerian police has concluded plans of recruiting more hands to improve manpower in the service.
Niger state command police commissioner, CP Monday Bala Kuryas in his remarks called for the improvement of service facilities of the police in Niger state , due to the large land mass and the security challenges facing the state.
“There’s the need to improve the service facilities of the police in the state, with the largest land mass in the country,with a total number of 5518 police personnel to cover the entire state.’‘
Meanwhile the Niger state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, recently echoed his support for the establishment of state police due to rapid increased in the population of the country.
The Governor said the ongoing insecurity in the country is making it obvious that the number of police personnel need to be increased and also have states in the country to be more involved in the security architecture.
