The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation in Nigeria has been certified by the International Organisation for Standardisation for O9001 Quantity Management System (QMS), standard.

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan said the event marks the climax of one of the carefully selected series of activities geared towards the total transformation of the

Federal Civil Service in Nigeria.

She said the ISO 9001:2015 is the world’s most recognised QMS Standard that provides the framework and guidance needed to help organizations consistently meet stakeholders expectations, regulatory requirements and demonstrate continuous improvement.

“The importance and benefits of ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification to the Office of the Head of Service is that it now empowers us to continuously provide quality, innovative, efficient and people-centred services at a globally recognised level of excellence”.

She noted with delight that compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 means that standards are maintained throughout the three-year certification cycle adding that the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) is the first and only core Ministry to achieve this feat of getting ISO certifification within the public sector.

The Head of Civil Service, however, re-iterate that though the ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification is a major win, “it must be seen and should serve as an impetus for us to continue to press towards the realization of our vision of transforming the Federal Civil Service into a truly world-class institution. The Civil Service of our dream”.

Yemi-Esan called for all hands to be on deck to ensure continuous improvement of QMS and that Standard is maintained throughout the three-year certification cycle.

Earlier in her remarks, the Managing Director, Digital Jewels Africa, Mrs. Adedoyin Odunfa, disclosed that given the centrality of the Office of the Head of Civil Service, the ability to streamline and simplify its processes to systematically imbibe a quality philosophy that delivers high quality services to its stakeholders, is a game changer for the entire Service and the nation as a whole.

“The ISO9001 standard aims to develop a veritable systematic QMS in an organization: this involves streamlining, standardizing & optimizing key processes to consistently meet customer/stakeholder requirements to enhance satisfaction. It is aligned with an organization’s purpose and strategic direction”, Odunfa explained

Also, the representative of the Chairman, Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, a strategic partner of the OHCSF, Mr Pattison Boleigha, said that with ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification of processes in the Civil Service, Nigeria is on its way to greatness.
