In a bid to enhance flexible office solutions across the country, the International Workplace Group (IWG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chelsea Group Limited in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Under the agreement, one of Chelsea Group’s floors will be converted into a state-of-the-art flexible workplace, offering tailored office solutions to meet the diverse needs of businesses. The partnership underscores IWG’s commitment to providing innovative and adaptive workspaces in Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.

The Country Director of the IWG, Mr. Ayo Akinmade, said that he was excited about the collaboration.

“This is the first time we are partnering with a hotel in Nigeria, creating an ecosystem that combines a home, office, eating space, and leisure activities all in one location.

“People can use the office, gym, and restaurant facilities within the same building. This setup is a game-changer, offering convenience and functionality,” he said.

He stressed that the collaboration would expand to other Chelsea Group locations in the future.

Mr Akinmade explained that by providing a flexible and supportive ecosystem, the International Workplace Group aims to empower businesses and individuals to thrive in Abuja while also contributing to the city’s economic growth and development.

He said that the initiatives have a positive economic impact, boosting productivity, generating income, and ultimately contributing to tax revenue and value-added services.

“Our customers are large multinationals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and start-ups. With unique business goals, people, and aspirations, they want the freedom to choose a way of working that works for their business.

“We provide that choice through our brands, each designed to serve the unique needs of businesses of every size, from some of the most exciting companies and well-known organisations on the planet to individuals and industry leaders of the next generation,” he said.

He also hinted at the possibility of expanding the partnership to other Chelsea Group locations in the future.

Mr Makinde added that the flexible workplace initiative would enhance productivity, generate income, and serve as value-added services for the economy.

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the International Workplace Group, Mr Mark Dixon, said that the group is pleased with the partnership to develop the brand under a management agreement that will add cutting-edge workspace in Nigeria.

“We are establishing a stronger and much-needed footprint in Nigeria with this latest opening. The need for high-quality, flexible workspaces continues to soar as hybrid working becomes the new normal. We are very pleased.

“Our opening at Regus Abuja Chelsea CBD comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible working boosts employee happiness and satisfaction while helping the environment. Our workplace model is also proven to increase productivity and allows a business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs,” Mr Dixon said.

In his submission, IWG’s Sales Director, Mr Henry Onyeche, said that subscribers would benefit from additional services such as meeting rooms, gym access, and other hotel amenities at discounted rates.

“We are in one hundred and twenty-three countries with over four thousand locations. A member signing up here can access all our locations worldwide,” Mr Onyeche said.

He added that the initiative will offer subscribers access to additional amenities such as meeting rooms, gym facilities, and hotel services at discounted rates.

The director of Chelsea Group Limited, Ms. Kenechi Chidolue, highlighted the initiative’s novelty.

“This is the first time we are venturing into flexible workspaces or offering very specific, tailored office options, and we are very excited.

“We believe this will enhance business and improve the lives of individuals who choose to sign up with IWG. They will experience our hospitality and amenities, not just here but across our locations in Nigeria.”

She said that the fifth floor of the hotel would be converted into a state-of-the-art workspace designed to meet the burgeoning demand for high-quality office spaces in Abuja.

According to her, the move promises to be a game-changer for established firms and startups alike, offering a unique blend of productivity, community, and flexibility.

She noted that over the next four months, the space will undergo a transformative conversion, culminating in a vibrant and dynamic environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and growth.

“We believe that this will enhance business and improve the lives of individuals who choose to sign up with IWG. They will experience our hospitality and amenities, not just here but across our locations in Nigeria,” Chidolue said.

The innovative space is slated to open in February 2025 on the fifth floor of the Chelsea Hotel in Abuja.
