International Youth Day: Anambra Assembly Speaker Enjoins Youths To Shun Violence

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, has called on youths to shun vices and violence as the global community marks this year’s International Youth Day.

Describing the youth as veritable instruments for generational growth and societal reforms, the Speaker in his goodwill message through his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu, to Anambra youths, noted that the role of the youth in nation building cannot be overemphasised.

He added that they are the heartbeat and future of every nation.

The Speaker who charged youths to abstain from vices such as lust, idolatry, greed, and violence among others, maintained that with hard work, education, occupational and vocational engagements as well as skills acquisition, they will be useful to themselves and to society.

He lauded Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his pragmatic initiatives and efforts in repositioning the future of the youth of the State by empowering a total number of 13,500 youths in his phase one and two “One youth, two skills programme” in addition to other youth empowerment opportunities.

Udeze while advising youths to always differentiate between virtues and vices, called on well-meaning citizens to contribute to the betterment of youths in their various communities.

He also commended the State lawmakers for their massive youth employment programmes in their constituencies.
