Investment in training, key to effective operations – Army Commander

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters Sokoto and Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, said investment in training of personnel is necessary in achieving operational effectiveness.

General Ajose stated this at the official opening ceremony of a 5 days Operations Planning Cadre training with the theme: “Authentic Leadership At All Levels Command: A Pre-Requisite for Enhance Operational Effectiveness,” in Sokoto State.

He said the training will give commanders opportunity to make sound decisions, adopt dynamic operational environment towards ensuring smooth operational efficiency.

“Investing in their development is not just necessary but essential for achieving operational effectiveness,” he said.

He added that the operation planning cadre training would contribute in achieving the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy which is “To Consolidate the Transformation of the Nigerian Army towards Bequeathing a well-motivated and Combat-Ready Force that can effectively Discharge its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”.

He noted that the training also provide an avenue for participants to refine their leadership and planning skills through interective sessions, practical exercise and share experience.

“It is imperative to remember that the security environment is evolving rapidly. The challenges we face today are multidimensional, complex, and often transnational. 

“As commanders, we must be able to synchronize our efforts, share intelligence and make informed decisions in real-time.

“This demands a new way of thinking and planning which embraces innovation and new advancement.” 

He called for the coordination of sister security agencies to overcome security challenges across the country.

“The cadre is to be conducted with the participation of different services and other secirity agencies.

” In a joint environment like ours, where coordination between different services and agencies is crucial, our operations no longer exists in isolation, they require collaboration across multiple domains and partners.”

He urged the participants to use the avenue towards having a deeper understanding of problem solving, decision making and leadership at tactical level.

” I urge the participants to seize this opportunity to refine our strategies, enhance our capabilities, and ensure that we are fully prepared to meet the challenges of the future within our Joint Operations.”

He expressed his appreciation to Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his encouragement and support to the division and the entire head of security agencies in the state for their cooperation and understanding.

The GOC commended the organisers putting together well-Structured training preveiledge.

The participants were selected from 8 Division Personnel, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Security Services, NSCDC, FRSC, Customs among others.
