Equity transactions on the Nigerian exchange closed positive at the end of the mid-week trading day as market indices rose by 3%.
The market capitalisation rose by N1.62 trillion to close at N55.58 trillion while the all-share index appreciated by 3% to reach a record of 101,571.11 basis points.
Wednesday’s gains made it the tenth day of gains on the market and the third consecutive day this week. And for the first time this week, the market sentiment closed positive with 35 gainers and 32 losers at the end of the day’s trading. Loop Jo
The gains recorded were led by Wapic Insurance which gained 10% to close atl N0.88k, followed by BUA Cement with a 9.98% gain and a closing price of N179.65k and then Japaul Gold and Ventures had a 9.91% price rise to close at N2.55k per share.
Conversely, N.E.M Insurance came out last with a 10% loss to close the day at N7.20k.It was followed by Cadbury Nigeria with a 9.96% loss and a closing price of N23.50k then the Initiates lost 9.92% to close at 2.27 points.
Transcorp Nigeria emerged as the most traded stock with 95 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company with 45.6 million traded shares.
At the end of Wednesday’s trading, a total of 488.49 million shares valued at N8.03 billion were traded in 12,080 deals.
