Investors: Nigeria’s Green Industrial Roadmap gains more international support

Nigeria has agreed to actionable steps that will ensure stronger collaboration with international investors and Development Finance Institutions DFIs, in accordance with the nation’s green industrial roadmap.

Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action SPEC and Nigeria’s Cordinator for all climate related matters, Ajuri Ngelale, made this known on while he hosted the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Center for Nature and Climate, Ms. Gim Huay, in a virtual discussion.

Ngelale also said while he hosted German Embassy led by its Head of Climate Negotiations, Ambassador Johannes Lehne, that Nigeria is taking steps toward deepening collaboration with Germany on hydrogen and wind energy development.

He added that an immediate follow up will commence by the Nigerian team on Climate action and the German representatives to bolster agreement on strengthening relations between the two countries on hydrogen and wind energy.

“On Wednesday evening, we hosted a frutiful session with a delegation from the German Embassy led by its Head of Climate Negotiations, Ambassador Johannes Lehne. Specific steps toward deepening collaboration on hydrogen and wind energy development were agreed upon with a follow-up next week.”

Further speaking on other engagements held on Wednesday, Ngelale hosted the United Kingdom-Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility  UKNAIF and discussed alignment of partnership with President Bola Tinubu’s plans for private sector led ,public sector enabled green industrial development.

“We hosted a virtual discussion with the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Center for Nature and Climate, Ms. Gim Huay, during which we agreed to actionable next steps that will ensure greater collaboration with international investors and DFIs in accordance with our green industrial roadmap.

“On Wednesday morning, we hosted the leadership of the United Kingdom-Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNAIF) for a briefing to align the partnership with President Bola Tinubu’s plans for private sector-led, public sector-enabled green industrial development”.

It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu empowered the SPEC office to be the country’s lead negotiator on climate-related matters, the lead negotiator on the carbon market and management initiatives, the supervising interface between the Secretariat of the National Council on Climate Change(NCCC) and the NCCC Supervising Council and to also serve as the coordinator of all climate action-related activities in ministries, departments, agencies, legislative and subnational.
