The umbrella body of Political Parties in Nigeria, known as Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, says that Nigeria’s electoral umpire the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, “has improved in the last six years” as it commences e-voting process beginning with Continues Voter’s Registration exercise across the country.
The National Chairman, IPAC Dr. Leonard Nzenwa who made the statement at the National Secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital adding that INEC “is doing its best and hope it will do better”.
Dr. Leonard Nzenwa called on “INEC to redouble its effort as much is expected from them ahead of the 6th November 2021, Anambra State gubernatorial election which is litmus test for ahead of Ekiti and Osun Gubernatorial Electronics 2022” before the 2023 general election.
Dr. Leonard Nzenwa further called on Nigerians to “take advantage of the Continues Voter’s Registration and get their Voter’s Card” ready to vote for the candidates of their choice.
The online voter’s registration will be for those who are Eighteen years and above and have not registered previously, those who have had problem with their voters’ card or finger prints during accreditation for the past election, those who want to transfer their voting location and those who lost their card or who want to affect correction.
The INEC has introduced new registration enrollment machine that would assist to facilitate easy registration of the applicants and other electoral processes.
The exercise is part of the INEC’s preparation ahead of the 2023 General Election in the country.
He added that the IPAC “condemned the incessant burning of INEC and Nigerian Police facilities in some parts of the country and demand a stop to this arson against the country.”
He urged on the country’s Security agents to “identify and deal decisively with these criminal elements that are perpetrating the burning of national assets”.
