In an effort to alleviate poverty in the society, an Islamic Organisation, Nashrullahi Fatih Society, NASFAT have embarked on distribution of funds and essential items under the Zakat programmes to assist the less privilege and alleviate poverty.
The Zakat, a distribution of wealth to the needy as the forth pillar of Islam has been incorporated into an endowment scheme by NASFAT under a new arrangement. The Zakat endownment has attracted over 500 million naira since 2014.
According to the Chiarman of the Zakat fund Alhaji Ishaq Ajibola in other part of the world such as Malaysia and Pakistan , ” this is a real big sources of revenue or income for government in fact the growth rate of zakkat in Malaysia is higher than any other source of revenue.”
He highlighted some of the procedures to access the fund for the needy and the less privilege in the society.
“ if you need the money, you apply to a technical committee that will review application and the committee , call for interview for Muslims and non Muslims”.
The chairman therefore appealed to wealthy muslims ummah to pay Zakkat as prescribed in the Quran for the benefit of the needy.
