Mass panic as Israeli forces issue evacuation orders for about 513,000 people crammed into an area in southern Gaza to flee elsewhere.

UN Chief Antonio Guterres says risks of a regional war are “now a reality”, urging all sides “to step back from the brink and consider the horrendous costs”.

Medical sources tell Al Jazeera “at least 40” Palestinians were killed in Khan Younis over the day while Israeli bombings are preventing the recovery of “dozens” more bodies.

At least 25,490 people have been killed and more than 63,000 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.
