IT Expert Advocates AI Integration for Global Business Competitiveness

An Information Technology expert, Mr. Victor Haruna-Francis, has advocated for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology for business leaders to remain competitive globally in today’s fast-evolving landscape.

The UK-based AI governance advocate offered this counsel during an interview with journalists in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria.

Mr. Haruna-Francis emphasized the importance of leadership efforts in driving AI adoption and governance. He explained that AI operationalization and governance are critical for sustainable growth, adding that business leaders must champion this initiative.

Haruna-Francis noted that research shows business leaders are lagging behind in AI policy implementation by 23%, while 40% of employees believe that the technology department should spearhead its implementation.

He also highlighted recent findings showing that more than 82% of business leaders and CEOs believe their businesses will be significantly impacted by artificial intelligence.

“AI-driven automation streamlines operations and empowers employees to focus on critical human aspects such as innovation, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement. This ultimately positions the company for long-term success in an increasingly competitive environment,” he stressed.

The IT expert pointed out that, similar to the ongoing push for digital transformation in business and public service, integrating AI into business operations requires widespread acceptance from all stakeholders.

According to Haruna-Francis, the responsibility for integrating AI into business operations ultimately falls on business leaders.

“Business leaders must grasp AI’s capabilities and potential impact to harness its power effectively. Increased awareness and education among business leaders are essential for the full adoption of AI in Nigeria. HR professionals, managers, and team leaders play a crucial role in ensuring seamless AI integration.

“A high-level understanding of AI’s capabilities and potential impact enables leaders to harness its power effectively, optimize operations, drive innovation, and unlock new growth opportunities that position the business for future success,” Haruna-Francis stated.

The expert also advised risk managers, operations specialists, and finance and accounting professionals to integrate AI into their functions.
