Italy wants Robinho extradited to face rape charges
The Italian Government has demanded the extradition of former Brazilian forward Robinho to face rape charges.
Prosecutors want the 38-year old to serve a nine-year jail sentence for the gang rape of an Albanian woman in a Milan nightclub.
He was sentenced in 2019 over the 2013 attack on the 23-year-old when he played for AC Milan.
But Robinho appealed the ruling, but the conviction was upheld.
However, getting Robinho to face his jail time in Italy may be impossible – unless a diplomatic intervention is carried out.
This is because Brazil’s constitution does not allow citizens to be extradited abroad under any circumctances.
