ITTF: Quadri retains position as highest rated African player

Nigerian Table tennis player Aruna Quadri remains on 14th place in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) ranking released yesterday.

Quadri tops other African countries as he still retains his position as the highest African rated player on the world stage with his continent’s rival, Omar Assar of Egypt also making it to top 20.

The first five places were dominated by the Chinese with Fan Zhendong leading the pack on 7455 points to beat Wang Chuqin and Ma Long to second and third places with 6720 and 4810 respectively.

The duo of Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan both of China are forth and fifth respectively.

Ahead of Quadri are Hugo Calderano of Brazil, Lin Yun-Ju of Chinese Taipei, Felix Lebrun of France, Lin Shidong of China, Dang Qui of Germany, Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan, Jang Woojin of Korea and Dimitrij Ovtcharov of Germany.

Two other Nigerians, Taiwo Mati and Olajide Omotayo are listed as number 103 and 104 respectively.

In the women’s ranking, Fatimo Bello of Nigeria is rated 115 while Edem Offiong is rated 139.
