Côte D’Ivoire Football Federation Elects Idriss Yacine Diallo President

Idriss Yacine Diallo has been elected as the new President of the Côte D’Ivoire Football Federation with 63 votes with Sory Diabate receiving 61, while former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was eliminated in the first round of voting.

Diallo becomes the president of the Côte D’Ivoire Football Federation, following the results of the second round of voting in at the FIF headquarters in Abidjan. Diallo will preside over the football body for the next five years.

General Assembly

In the first round of the Ivorian FA presidential elections, former Chelsea Striker Didier Drogba was eliminated as he received 21 votes, while Idriss Yacine Diallo and Sory Diabate received 59 and 50 votes, respectively.

Drogba, who was recently inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, had made known his ambition at a large gathering at the FIF headquarters in Abidjan, the country’s commercial capital, on August 1, 2020.

The Premier League legend featured for Cote d’Ivoire 105 times between 2002 and 2014 and is the country’s highest goalscorer with 65 goals.

He has also made the third-highest international appearances for The Elephants behind Didier Zokora and Kolo Toure with 123 and 120 appearances, respectively.
