Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi has emphasised that justice remains the cornerstone of social harmony and development.
Governor Namadi warned that no society can progress where fairness and accountability are compromised.
The governor gave the charge while receiving the national executives of the Sharia and Area Court Judges Association of Nigeria (SACJAN), led by its National President, Khadi Mohammed Mudassir Hassan, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Dutse.
He noted that Sharia Court judges carry a weighty responsibility in sustaining societal order and guiding citizens, especially the youth, towards good conduct.
Namadi urged judges to uphold integrity and truth in all their decisions, stressing that the impact of their rulings reaches deep into the moral fabric of communities.
“The role you play in preventing wrongdoing and shaping values is critical.
“When courts deliver justice to the rightful and hold wrongdoers accountable, society is strengthened. But if corruption is validated in the courtroom, society will crumble. The court is the last hope of the common man,” the Governor said.
While acknowledging the growing influence of self-interest and moral decline in society, the governor encouraged judges to remain firm and God-fearing, as they will ultimately account for every judgment they pass.

He also announced the governor’s appointment as Grand Patron of SACJAN.
Responding, Governor Namadi approved Jigawa State as the host for the association’s upcoming annual conference.
He assured that the state government would fully sponsor the event as part of efforts to enhance a functional justice system.
