The Jigawa State Government in North West Nigeria has inaugurated a high-powered Monitoring Team for the JIGAWAUNITE Project, an education reform initiative expected to serve as a model for basic education improvement.
Speaking at the inauguration in Dutse, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, said the project reflects Governor Umar Namadi’s strong financial and policy commitment to transforming learning outcomes in the state.
He noted that the monitoring team was carefully selected based on merit, professional experience, and integrity, bringing together some of the most respected education experts in Jigawa.
According to him, the team will play a central role in driving the project’s success by evaluating academic performance across beneficiary schools, assessing SUBEB’s level of engagement and ownership, and providing regular feedbacks to the governor and key stakeholders.
He explained that the team’s terms of reference include developing a robust Monitoring and Evaluation framework, conducting classroom observations, and producing monthly and quarterly progress reports to guide decision-making.
Bala Ibrahim added that the project is expected to strengthen data-driven policies, an approach increasingly prioritised by states and national education partners.
