Jigawa LG Constructs Embankments To Control Flood 

Malam Madori Local Government Council in Jigawa has begun construction of embankment on Hadejia River, to control flood in the area.

The Chairman of the Council, Salisu Sani said this during the inauguration of the project at Matsa village in Arki ward.

This is contained in a statement by Musa Muhammad, the spokesman to the council, on Friday in Dutse.

He said the development was sequel to requests by the affected communities seeking remediation measures to control perennial flooding in the area.

Sani said the project was also designed to encourage farming activities as well as improve social and economic wellbeing of the people.

Perennial floods have been ravaging farmlands and displaced thousands households annually.

Residents in the flood prone areas of the state called for practical measures to mitigate effects of the disaster and protect them against further losses.
