The Jimeta Ultramodern Market, in the heart of Yola, Adamawa State, is rapidly transforming into a vibrant hub for commerce and foreign investment.

This transformation is being championed by its first-ever chairman, Niwesa Kushi, who has positioned the market as a symbol of economic growth and modernisation in the region.

Speaking in an interview with the Newsmen, Kushi emphasised that the Jimeta Ultramodern Market reflects Adamawa State’s dedication to promoting trade, attracting investors, and creating a secure and business-friendly environment.

With its modern infrastructure, diverse range of products, and competitive pricing, this market is poised to become a regional centre for commerce and international investment,” he said.

Strategically located in Jimeta, the market features a well-organised layout with clearly marked blocks offering a wide selection of goods—from textiles and grains to electronics and groceries.

The infrastructure is designed for efficiency and ease of navigation, enhancing the shopping experience for visitors and locals alike.

One of the major challenges previously faced by the market was inconsistent operating hours, which exposed traders to security risks.

Under Kushi’s leadership, standardised hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. have been implemented, improving security and business operations.

Security has become a cornerstone of the market’s development., Kushi highlighted the collaboration with key Nigerian security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Police.

These agencies hold regular meetings with the market board to identify challenges and implement solutions aimed at maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

To further elevate the market to international standards, several key upgrades have been introduced.

The market has been decongested to allow free movement, and a dedicated task force has been established to ensure proper management and enforcement of regulations.

Plans are also underway to revive critical but non-functional infrastructure, such as on-site clinics and fire service stations.

Every shop will soon be equipped with fire extinguishers as part of a broader safety initiative.

Additionally, parking areas have been reorganised to minimise congestion, with designated zones for heavy trucks and logistics operations, facilitating smoother transportation and delivery within the market.

Kushi expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his confidence in his leadership and ongoing support for the market’s transformation.

He also commended traders for their cooperation and urged them to remain security-conscious and law-abiding.

With these developments, the Jimeta Ultramodern Market is not only revitalising local commerce but is also emerging as a gateway for international investors seeking opportunities in one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing commercial centres.
