Joint Security Forces Recover Weapons, Vehicles In Anambra State

The Anambra State Police Command in partnership with other security agencies has successfully raided a known criminal hideout in Lilu, Mbosi, located in the Isseke area of Ihiala Local Government Area. This operation comes just five days after police recovered five unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that had been thrown by assailants at the Umunze Police Station in Orumba South Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Saturday, State Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga explained that the operation was the result of extensive security intelligence gathering. He noted that the raid was conducted by joint security forces.
During the operation, authorities recovered three unexploded IEDs, two abandoned vehicles, as well as various explosive materials including copper wires and fuel, among other dangerous substances.
The statement read: “Following the security intelligence gathered over time, the Joint Security Forces executed a planned and coordinated operation that led to the dismantling of a criminal camp in the Lilu, Mbosi, and Isseke areas of Ihiala LGA. Recovered items include three unexploded improvised explosives, two abandoned vehicles, and several explosive materials such as copper wires, fuel, and other hazardous materials.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to maintain the momentum of their operations. He reassured the citizens of Anambra State of the continued commitment of the police and other security agencies to combat crime and eliminate the safe havens that criminals currently exploit.
“We will remain resolute in our fight against criminal elements, ensuring they are denied the space to operate.
“Joint operations are ongoing, and further developments will be communicated to the public,” he stated.
